Care consultant planning:
This is an in-depth plan covering your end of life values and wishes, advanced care planning, who would take care of you and potential costs, etc.
I recommend that anyone 18+ years of age, no matter their health status, have some sort of plan. It is best to have this done before any illness occurs. This is an act of love for you and your loved ones and documenting your wishes of care will greatly increase your chances of having them carried out. You have the power to change your mind at any time. By phone or in-person
Creating a care plan
After the initial phone consultation, we must do an intake form to determine how to best meet the needs of the person needing support. Within this, we will discuss topics in depth regarding the main concerns, existing challenges/possible challenges for the future, medical conditions, etc. By phone or in-person
Animal death doula:
Losing a pet is very difficult and for some, even more so than losing a human companion. I offer compassionate, holistic, and informational support to animals/pets and their owner(s). When a furry loved one is facing chronic or terminal illness without a cure, the goal is to make the final days and weeks more comfortable. I will assist in creating a "pet hospice" within your home. I offer respite care so that you don't have to worry about your loved one while you are at work. I will sit vigil, offer grief support and assist with post death arrangements. (Animal Reiki is included).
Respite/companion/bedside care:
Respite care is a time for the caregiver to carry out other tasks, activities and to tend to other areas of their lives. This time can be used to offer emotional support, be a companion or assist with light housekeeping. This can also be a great time to work through end of life planning and to create legacy and life review projects. (Reiki, sound therapy, and/or reflexology are included).
In Ontario, caregivers can potentially receive access to OHIP covered respite care through Ontario Health At Home or private insurance.
Legacy & life review projects:
Legacy and life review projects can be made at any point in time and can consist of creating a journal full of memories, recipe books, writing letters to be opened on specific dates, etc. The list is endless! Reviewing one's life while nearing death is common and often, people consider what they would like to pass on or leave behind. These projects provide a sense of purpose and help one to process their life and what it means to them. It is important to note that it's ok if what is started is not finished. This can be done one-on-one or it could be a family/group project.
Active vigil sitting:
I offer on call and round the clock support for the person going through the active dying stage along with their loved ones. This is the time to advocate for the person's comfort care and create sacred space as they have wished. I highly recommend reiki during this stage. It helps move the energy through the person that allows for a more peaceful transition. This time can also include support for the family members following the passing of their loved one.
Holistic grief support
I provide a caring and safe space for you to freely express your emotions, explore your grief and find suitable coping strategies. Within these sessions, I incorporate breathwork/meditations, Reiki, reflexology and sound therapy to assist on your healing journey. I respect your autonomy and guarantee strict confidentiality. (Except where legally obligated).
These sessions can be 60 minutes either by phone or in-person. Should you wish to have this done by phone, I can offer distance Reiki only. I also offer 90 minute in-person sessions as well. These sessions are tailored to your needs and there is no strict way to do this.
Organization and Material Artifact Support:
After the passing of a loved one, it can be overwhelming to determine what to do with a lifetime of personal belongings. There will be many valuable items but some that are mundane. I offer assistance with sorting through these items while cleaning the space and offering emotional support throughout this process. If it is desired, I can offer guidance on memorializing any of these items.
